Fortunately, my visit back to Charlotte overlapped with the grand opening of the Bechler Museum of Modern Art. Charlotte’s architecture is largely bland and corporate, the same glass and steel that’s typical of un-imaginative “efficient” building designs. Now that the Bechler is open, I hope it becomes the face of the city. Housing some awesome pieces only bolsters its amazingness. Who knew there were so many modern art tapestries? Or that said tapestries were woven by Picasso?

Sure, its far from perfect as @thediscochicken will tell you. But this is the kind of challenging provocative space Uptown CLT needs desperately. The only awesome building in Blandcouver is the downtown library… the only structure that stands out from the countless towers copied and pasted from Hong Kong.

This is an oldie but goodie. A few weeks ago when @jameswillamor and I took a flight around Uptown this picture came out nicely. When I move to Vancouver I hope to do a flyaround of that city as well.

At the McGill Rose Garden on N. Davidson St. the yardbirds are everywhere! Check them out on your next visit there.

Okay, so first of all: I’ve resolved to capitalize all proper nouns, starting today. I went through a phase for a few weeks where I thought that proper nouns weren’t important but I’ve decided to change that.

Second: I walked around on campus at UNC Charlotte yesterday from about 5:45-6:30 and took some great pics of the sun setting. This was one of my favorites from the set.

Third: let me know if the HDR gets too over the top, High Dynamic Range photography is a great tool for showing the world in a new way but sometimes pictures just get way out of hand. I tend to like the one above but if its too much for you, say so and let me know why.

The state of North Carolina is filled with natural beauty throughout the year. I feel that fall in NC the most beautiful time in the most beautiful place in this region. Nothing makes me happier than getting out among the leaves early on a Saturday morning to photograph the dew before it evaporates.
